I was scrolling through my e-mail as I found this.

                                                    The issue of "Corrective Rape".

If you didn't know already, "Corrective rape" is a criminal practice, whereby men rape lesbian women, purportedly as a means of "curing" the woman of her sexual orientation.

It intrigued me as I try to put what I question the most in different context as much as possible and I came up with this.

Christianity in Africa
RegionTotal PopulationChristian % Christian % of Christian total
Middle Africa125,165,000100,161,00080.02%4.66%
Eastern Africa325,803,000208,168,00063.89%9.68%
Northern Africa206,208,00010,629,0005.15%0.49%
Southern Africa56,540,00046,120,00081.57%2.14%
Western Africa299,240,000117,162,00039.15%5.45%
Total1,012,956,000482,240,00047.60%22.43%
Corrective Rape reports: 520 a year.  How many go unreported?

So now I have to ask myself..   Why would 81.57% of Southern Africa claim to be Christian and still have so many "Corrective Rapes"?  I believe this is an example of a massively uneducated state of belief as well as a severely twisted view agitated by thoughts of divinity and other religiously caused emotion.

Albeit, it could be from just being uneducated and under a lot of stress, but why do these people feel they should rape others?  With 81.57% of them all being christian I have to assume that some of these rapes are religiously influenced.

You may not be able to do much about this, considering everything going on, but what we could do is try to help those that are trying to help as well and share news links or blog posts about this.

What do you have to say about this situation?
